
As we take time today to participate in
World AIDS Day events around the globe, we find ourselves at an interesting point in the history of the world's battle against HIV/AIDS. The New England Journal of Medicine recently released the results of a
HIV prevention trial, which demonstrated that taking a HIV treatment pill daily reduces an individual's chance of infection, a study made possible by the passionate work of volunteers as well as the study's participants at San Francisco's
Gladstone Institute. And while we celebrate this victory today, as well as the knowledge that new infections declined by almost 20% in 2009, we also recognize that
