Over the last year or so, you've had the chance to learn all about some of the folks who work here at Babeland, and which toys they like best (see our popular Staff Picks section!).  This month, we've got Tyler on deck; Tyler's one of our beloved customer service folks here in our Oakland offices.  When you call our 800 number or use our "live chat" function, you just might be talking to Tyler... and she just might be giving you some of the best sex toy advice you've ever heard.  We love Tyler for her warm smile, generous and hilarious spirit, and tiny, adorable doggie.  Read on to learn more about what brought Tyler here, and what she's up to behind the scenes!

Abby:  Hi, Ty!  Tell us what brought you here to Babeland.

Tyler:  Honestly, I was in search of a job for about a year.  And when my friend told me that Babeland was hiring, I hopped on it.  I sent in my resume and cover letter, and in the couple of days it took me to receive a call for an interview, I became really excited to be working in a customer service position... and dealing with sex topics, no less.  In talking to my core friend group about the opportunity, they quickly cosigned that this would be a perfect fit for me since I was constantly talking about sex anyway -- maybe they were excited because I would have another outlet besides their tired ears.  I had my interview on a Wednesday, then left the next day to drive a 26-foot truck to Arizona to help my entire family move.  (And if I hadn't gotten the job, I would most likely have had to move too, which wasn't what I wanted.)  But I got the great news that I was hired  (insert Ty happy dance interlude), and I started the following Tuesday, woot, woot!

Abby:  Woot, indeed!  Tell us about your career prior to Babeland.

Tyler:  I’ve worked as a bank teller/manager, I started my own residential housecleaning and interior design business, and I was a controller for a small start-up company.  Within the year prior to starting here, I went back to school for graphic design which is still ongoing.

Abby:  And what do you do here on an average day?

Tyler:  I am the front line and purveyor of happiness as a customer service person/sex educator. I deal with everything customer-related, from answering inquiries and troubleshooting issues to placing orders.  I am also the reigning UPS champion, as the point person for all UPS issues.

Abby:  What does your family think about you working here?

Tyler:  When I got hired, I told my mom immediately, but sort of skirted the issue as to what we do, exactly.  I did fully confide in my two younger brothers because I saw it as a great opportunity to open up dialogue about sex with them, and it worked!  I talked in much detail about the job and began to share some of my experiences to make them feel comfortable talking to me about sex, and boy, did the floodgates open.  When my mom caught wind of the nature of my job, she was somewhat taken aback, but if she did disapprove, she didn’t let on.  She quickly warmed to the idea of me working for an adult toy company, and has been very supportive ever since.

Abby:  Tell us about one of your most memorable moments working here.

Tyler:  Honestly, one of the most touching moments for me was when I was able to refer my friend for a position in our warehouse, and she was hired.  She was the one who had encouraged me to apply here and if it wasn’t for her, I might not be here… sad thought, I know.  So returning the favor was the best way I could thank her.

Abby:  What's something you've learned about yourself through working at Babeland?

Tyler:  I've always considered myself a sexual being, a perfectionist, and a pleaser.  Working at Babeland has further confirmed just how much I am those things.  I have learned to engage in topics that take me out of my comfort zone.  And as for my personal life, working at Babeland has made me more aware of just how much I am into BDSM.  I have so many great resources here to increase my knowledge, and I'm always eager to soak up everyone’s knowledge.

Abby:  Finally, tell us your favorite term for a body part... any body part!

Tyler:   Well… I am a sucker for eyes, and although I don’t say it out loud too much, I refer to a pretty pair of eyes as “Venus Ty Catchers."  could thank her.
